Kootenay Region Fisheries

The Ministry of Environment serves British Columbia by protecting and enhancing the environment while sustaining quality of life. As part of this ministry, the Fisheries Program manages fish, fish habitat and sport fishing in the province.

Fisheries Management in the Kootenay Region of southeastern British Columbia is delivered by the Regional Fisheries Section of the Fish, Wildlife and Habitat Branch of the Ministry of Environment. The Kootenay Region encompasses most of the Columbia River Basin in Canada with the following exceptions:

  • Canoe Reach of Kinbasket Reservoir (Northern Region/Prince George)
  • Kettle River system (Southern Interior Region/Penticton)
  • Okanagan River/Lake system (Southern Interior Region/Penticton)
