Reconnaissance (1:20,000) Fish and Fish Habitat
Inventory of the Upper Elk River Watershed.
Interior Reforestation Co. Ltd. was retained by Crestbrook Forest
Industries Ltd. to conduct a reconnaissance (1:20 000) fish and
fish habitat inventory of tributaries of the Upper Elk River Watershed.
The purpose of this inventory is to provide information pertaining
to fish species presence/absence, abundance, and distribution
throughout the watershed through sampling of selected reaches
identified in the phase I-III project plan (Masse 1999). This
information will assist fisheries and resource managers by providing
baseline biophysical information for the watershed and assist
the licensee in forest development planning requirements of the
Forest Practices Code of BC Act (Minister of Forests 1996). For
the purposes of this contract no lake surveys were conducted as
per the phase I-III project plan (Masse 1999).
