Environmental Protection Division (EPD):
The Environmental Protection Division (EPD) is responsible for regulating waste discharges to the land, air and water for the Thompson Region. Our staff coordinates emergency spill response and regulates hazardous waste storage, treatment and disposal. Our Environmental Quality group assesses the impacts of pollution from a wide variety of sources and completes ambient monitoring of the air and water.
Environmental Stewardship Division (ESD):
The Environmental Stewardship Division (ESD) is responsible for three main program areas: Fish & Wildlife Management, Ecosystem (habitat) management and Parks & Protected Area management.
Conservation Officer Services (COS):
The Conservation Officer Service (COS) is the delivery arm of the Enforcement program in the Ministry. It works with other professional staff in the ministry to achieve compliance with provincial and federal environmental legislation. Conservation officers are also involved with response to wildlife-human conflicts where human health and safety are at risk, or where significant property damage has occurred because of this conflict.
Water Stewardship Division (WSD)
British Columbia's water resource is one of our most precious and important assets.
From a crucial supply of drinking water, to energy to recreation to irrigation, B.C. water meets many needs for many
people. The Water Stewardship Division (WSD) is responsible for water licensing,
water utility regulation, groundwater protection, source water protection, flood safety, and
drought management.
