Project funding originates from a variety of sources including Forest Renewal British Columbia (FRBC), the Habitat Conservation Trust Fund (HCTF), BC Hydro, the Corporate Resource Inventory Initiative (CRII) and the Common Land Information Base (CLIB). Use BC Species and Ecosystems Explorer to generate lists of species at risk in the South Island, Campbell River and Port McNeil Forest Districts In addition to the species identified by the Conservation Data Centre, Region 1 also has identified some species that are designated as Regionally Important. The Regionally Important species list can be found here. The CDC tracking lists are not comprehensive species list for Region 1. A comprehensive list of species present in Region 1 can be found here(pdf format). FRBC Wildlife Inventory Reports can be found here or by request. Please be aware that some information is confidential (e.g., grizzly bear locations, great blue heron rookeries) and is not available publicly. Region 1 periodically produces a Wildlife Newsletter with current information on wildlife inventory activities.
Additional resources for conducting wildlife inventory can be found in the Wildlife Inventory Toolbox.
